Thinking of getting a Ford Focus ST-Line?
What is the Ford Focus ST-Line?
The Ford Focus ST-Line is the sporty-looking model in the Focus range. It’s a trim level that gives the Focus larger alloy wheels and deeper bumpers compared with Zetec models, plus side ‘skirts’ below the doors and a rear spoiler. That’s just the outside. Inside, it has bucket-type sports seats, a sports steering wheel, an aluminium gear knob and stainless steel pedals. All of these extra styling details create a look similar to the high-performance Focus ST.
What is the Ford Focus?
The Ford Focus is the brand’s long-serving range of mid-size hatchbacks and estates (and saloons, sold elsewhere in the world). It was introduced in 1998 as a replacement for the Escort. That first-generation Focus rewrote the rule book for mid-size family cars, setting new standards for space, quality and, most of all, the driving experience. None of its rivals felt as good to drive and you didn’t have to be an enthusiastic driver to appreciate that. The Focus soon became the UK’s best-selling car, a position it held for many years across several generations. The current, fourth-generation Focus has been sold since 2018. It was updated in 2022 with a new front grille and Ford’s latest infotainment system. It remains a fantastic compact family car that’s great to drive.
What does ST-Line mean?
ST-Line is a trim level available for many Ford models. It stands for sport technologies. Ford makes standalone hot hatchback models such as the Fiesta ST and Focus ST. ST-Line trim was added in the 2016 to give buyers the option of sportier styling similar to that of the ST models, but with the ‘regular’ engines. So you get the looks of a fast car without the higher costs. The combination has proven to be really popular and is now available on many Ford cars.
Where does the Ford Focus ST-Line sit in the range?
The position of the ST-Line model in the Focus range has changed over the years. It used to sit next to Zetec, sharing the same standard features. The latest version of the ST-Line has the same standard features as the more upmarket Titanium. There are variations on the ST-Line theme, too. For instance: the ST-Line X and ST-Line Vignale, which have packages of extra features like bigger alloy wheels and a heated steering wheel.
How is the Ford Focus ST-Line different from the rest of the Focus range?
