Thinking of getting a Ford Fiesta Titanium?

What is the Ford Fiesta Titanium?

The Ford Fiesta Titanium is one of the most popular versions of the big-selling small hatchback. It was originally the top-of-the-range trim level though now it’s more like the mid-range option as Ford has added extra trim and equipment packages with even more features included as standard. Titanium still comes very well-equipped, though: the latest version (sold new since 2018) includes sat nav, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support, air con and cruise control. You may also come across Titanium B+O Play and Titanium X. The B+O Play adds a powerful Bang & Olufsen stereo while the X has a B+O stereo plus part-leather upholstery, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel.

What is the Ford Fiesta?

The Fiesta is a compact hatchback that’s the UK’s best-selling car of all time. The current model – which has been on sale new since 2017 – is the seventh-generation Fiesta. It was updated in 2022 with fresh styling details including a new front grille, new headlights and upgraded tech. Production of the Fiesta will end in June 2023 and Ford has confirmed that there will be no direct replacement.

What does Titanium mean?

There’s no particular meaning in the word ‘titanium’ that’s specific to Ford, but that doesn’t mean it was chosen at random when Ford needed a name for its new top-of-the-range trim level. Titanium is one of the most valuable metals in the world and it’s often used to make very high-end watches, jewellery, glasses, even kitchen appliances. That association with luxury goods gives Ford Titanium models a suitably prestigious image. It also helps that the word is understood in most languages around the world, so Ford is able to use it in lots of countries besides the UK.

Where does the Ford Fiesta Titanium sit in the range?

The position of Titanium in the Fiesta range has moved around a bit over the years. It started as the top-of-the-range trim level but it proved so popular that it was moved down a notch or two. It didn’t lose any standard features in the process, Ford just added other trim levels above it. For instance, there’s the sporty-looking ST-Line with the same features included as standard as you’d get with the Titanium but which costs more when new because of its extra styling details. There’s also the luxurious Vignale, which has leather seats.

How is the Ford Fiesta Titanium different from the rest of the Fiesta range?

Let’s consider this question by looking at the 2019 Fiesta Titanium. In that year, it was the mid-range model, sandwiched between Fiesta Zetec and Fiesta Vignale. Compared to Zetec, Titanium has bigger 16-inch alloy wheels with a 10-spoke design, privacy glass, LED rear lights and a chrome strip along the lower edge of the side windows. Inside, there’s an armrest between the front seats, an engine-start button on the dashboard, floor mats with Metal Grey stitching and a seven-speaker stereo. There are some extra features that Zetec doesn’t have, including cruise control, automatic air con, a traffic-sign recognition system and a driver-attention monitor.
