You can sell us your car without road tax if we pick it up from your driveway, garage or private land.
If your car is parked on a public road or you’re driving it to a Customer Centre on the handover day, you’ll need to sell your car with valid, up-to-date road tax. We won’t be able to accept your car without it.
If you’re selling your car with road tax, you’ll get an automatic refund from the DVLA for any unused period of road tax.
You also need to cancel your insurance policy directly with your insurer.
