If you’re planning to buy your next car on finance and have set aside £200 per month, the good news is that there are some great used cars out there for you.

Here are our 10 top choices, all regularly available at Cazoo (depending on stock levels). Our £200 per month price is based on Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) finance, with a £2000 deposit and representative APR of 11.9%*. You can use our finance checker to check your eligibility for car finance at Cazoo with no impact to your credit score.

1. Kia Sportage

It’s easy to see why the Kia Sportage has been one of the UK’s best-selling cars of the past few years. This mid-size SUV is a stylish all-rounder with a large boot, lots of interior space and it’s available with a range of fuel-efficient petrol and diesel engines.

All versions are well-equipped and all but the very earliest examples of the fourth-generation model (on sale new from 2016 to 2021) are still covered by the manufacturer’s seven-year warranty. The cover is transferable to the new owner, which should provide some peace of mind when buying or selling your car.

2. Peugeot 308

Whether you opt for the smart hatchback or the spacious estate version (known as the SW), the Peugeot 308 is a stylish car that gives you a lot for your money. The boot space is good for this type of car, with enough for three medium suitcases. All versions are practical, but the longer 308 SW is especially so, giving you extra legroom in the back and a bigger boot for your stuff.

The engines are especially quiet and fuel-efficient and give good performance, while the 308 feels responsive to drive and gives you and your passengers a very comfortable ride.

3. Toyota Aygo

Small, cost-effective cars don’t have to be boring, as the Toyota Aygo proves. With its sharp design and the availability of some striking exterior colour combinations, it stands out from many city cars and has a similarly youthful look and feel inside.

In fact, the Aygo is something of a favourite with young drivers – partly because of its looks but also because it’s so affordable to run. Very low insurance group ratings keep premiums down, while some versions give an average of almost 60mpg,  according to official figures. Add in Toyota’s excellent reputation for reliability and the fact that the Aygo is fun to drive and the car makes a very strong case for itself.

4. Renault Captur

If you want a car that's roomy inside, yet will fit into tight parking spaces, the previous-generation Renault Captur (on sale new from 2013 until 2019) is a great option. It helps that the Captur has a sliding back seat to give you a choice of maximum boot space or additional legroom for passengers. With the seat forward, the boot offers enough luggage space to rival some large SUVs, but the space is still adequate, even with the seat pushed back.

Running costs are low and you’ll find lots of exterior colour combinations when looking for a used Captur, some with contrasting roof and bodywork that give it a particularly bold, individual look.

5. Ford Focus

If you enjoy driving, few mid-size cars are likely to appeal to you as much as the Ford Focus. A £200 monthly budget will get you into the fourth-generation model (on sale new since 2018) and whichever version you choose, it feels responsive and assured. It’s the kind of car that gives you real confidence when you’re driving, whether you’re on an unfamiliar country road, cruising on the motorway or grabbing a gap in city traffic. If you're so inclined, you might even take it out for a drive just for the fun of it!

There are certainly lots of models to choose from, with hatchbacks or estates,  petrol or diesel engines and a large selection of trim levels. The interior is solid and comfortable and although the boot isn’t as large as in some rivals, the Focus has loads of passenger space inside.

6. Vauxhall Corsa

Value for money has always been one of the main attractions of the Vauxhall Corsa and that’s as true as ever, because £200 per month or less can get you one of the current-generation models, which was introduced in 2019.

It’s a great little car, as stylish on the inside as it is on the outside, with a high-tech look and feel throughout. Every version has a neat touchscreen infotainment system, as well as support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Corsa is good to drive, too, and although this budget won't stretch to the pure-electric Corsa-e version, all the available petrol or diesel engines are smooth, responsive and very fuel-efficient.

7. Nissan Qashqai

The Nissan Qashqai is one of the most popular SUVs around, so you should have lots to choose from when you’re searching for a used one. The second-generation Qashqai (sold new from 2014 until 2021) gives you a family-friendly blend of a large boot, loads of interior space and low running costs.

If comfort is a priority for you, the Qashqai is definitely worth a look. The high seating position makes it very easy to get in and out, the seats are soft yet supportive and the suspension does a great job of cushioning you from lumps and bumps in the road. The Qashqai is also one of the most cost-effective mid-size family SUVs – it was keenly priced when new and the sheer number out there means that prices for used cars are very competitive.

8. Volkswagen Polo

If you love the Volkswagen Golf but want a car that’s a bit more compact and cost-effective, look no further than the Polo. It shares many hallmarks with the Golf, including a high-quality interior, a smooth drive and, in top-spec versions, lots of luxury features.

You also get the choice of a wide range of engines, with some very fuel-efficient options. The Polo might be a little more expensive to buy than some other compact hatchbacks but it’s good value and, because of its premium image, you’re likely to get more for it when you decide it’s time to resell.

9. Volkswagen T-Roc

The Volkswagen T-Roc is a stylish, desirable compact SUV that's now very affordable.

Inside and out it has a premium look and feel and there are lots of exterior colour combinations available, with some cars featuring bold colours and/or a contrasting roof colour. While it has a curvy, coupe-like shape the T-Roc is roomy and practical inside. There are a wide choice of engines and trims available and most give you great fuel economy and low running costs.

10. Skoda Octavia

If practicality and space are your top priorities, look no further than the third-generation Skoda Octavia (sold new from 2013 to 2020). The hatchback offers 590 litres of boot space, which is much more than you get in some large estate cars. In real terms, that’s enough for six large suitcases. The estate version’s boot is even more cavernous and could be a great bet if you have a large dog (or dogs) to ferry around.

There’s an Octavia for everyone, with a wide range of trim levels and engines to choose from. Every version is good to drive and offers great long-distance comfort.
