Thinking of getting a Nissan Juke Tekna?

What is the Nissan Juke Tekna?

The Nissan Juke Tekna is one of the best-equipped versions of the popular Juke small SUV. Why is the Juke so popular? Its standout looks are a big part of its appeal, but it’s also pleasant to drive, running costs are pretty low and its raised seating position means most people can get in without bending down or climbing up. It’s also excellent value for money, particularly in the Tekna trim, which comes equipped with lots of features you might expect to only find on much costlier cars.

What is the Nissan Juke?

The Juke is Nissan’s smallest SUV and has been a big-seller in the UK since it was first introduced in 2010. It’s not the most practical small SUV, but its distinctive looks and high seating position really struck a chord with the buying public.

The current, second-generation version of the Juke went on sale in 2019. It remains one of the most distinctive small SUVs and it’s a rival for cars such as the Ford Puma and the Peugeot 2008.

What does Tekna mean?

Nissan has named its top-of-the-range models Tekna since around 2006. The word Tekna is intended to show that a Tekna model is fitted with lots of high-tech features.

Where does the Nissan Juke Tekna sit in the range?

The current Nissan Juke Tekna is the fourth model in a five-model range. In order, they are Visia, Acenta, N-Connecta, Tekna and Tekna+. The Tekna+ is almost the same as Tekna, but it comes with an extra package of colourful styling details.

Looking at the older, first-generation Juke, the exact position of Tekna in the model line-up moved around a bit depending on the year of manufacture. However, it was always at, or near, the top of the range.

How is the Nissan Juke Tekna different from the rest of the Juke range?

Let’s compare the current Nissan Juke Tekna and the N-Connecta model that sits just below it in the Juke range. The Tekna comes with 19-inch alloy wheels, two inches bigger than those fitted to N-Connecta. Unlike N-Connect, Tekna has what Nissan calls the Advanced Safety Shield Pack, which includes useful driver-safety features like adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert; and the Heat Pack that includes heated front seats, steering wheel and windscreen. On top of all that, there’s a high quality Bose stereo.

The same principle was applied to the older, first-generation Juke Tekna: it has bigger wheels and more features than the other Juke models, although the wheels and features varied over the nine years the car was on sale new.
