Used BMW 1 Series Sport cars

The BMW 1 Series Sport is a trim level of the BMW 1 Series, which is BMW’s mid-size hatchback. The Sport trim is a mid-level trim that balances out features and price, making it an attractive option for lots of people.

The BMW 1 Series is a mid-size hatchback – and a rival for cars such as the Mercedes-Benz A-Class and Audi A3. The latest version was introduced in 2019, but we’re also looking at the previous model, which was sold new from 2011 until 2019.

Although both versions have much in common, they offer different driving experiences – the older 1 Series is rear-wheel drive while the newer is front-wheel drive – and different levels of practicality, with the most recent model giving you more space.

The latest model is only available as a five-door hatchback, however, while the earlier model was also available in three-door form.

Both versions of the BMW 1 Series have three trims to choose from. SE is the entry-level and most affordable model, Sport is in the middle and M Sport sits at the top.

As well as the standard trims, more sporty versions of the 1 Series are available, including the 128ti and the M135i, which have different design details and suspension.

The BMW 1 Series trim levels aren’t that different when it comes to which features and equipment are included as standard. Instead the trims are generally marked out by styling differences. For example, every model has the same infotainment system whatever the trim (although M Sport gets a larger screen).

The top-spec M Sport models have deeper front and rear bumpers and a racier look than other models, while the SE models tend to have smaller wheels and less in-your-face styling details. Sport sits in the middle, with more supportive seats than the SE and a few extra trim bits, but it doesn’t look as overtly sporty as the M Sport.

BMW offers lots of options on its cars, so the chances are high that a 1 Series Sport that you’re looking at might not have exactly the same features as another. It’s always worth looking at the spec sheet to see what goodies the original owner decided to add.
