We buy cars that have at least two weeks of valid MOT left from the date we receive your car.

This means that if your handover is on 1 August, your car's MOT needs to be valid until at least 14 August.

We only buy cars with a valid V5C that matches the number plates that are on the car you want to sell. You’ll need to make sure that your V5C is a red certificate and not a blue one. 

If you have personalised plates that you’d like to keep, the car will need to have the original number plates attached and a matching valid V5C on the handover day.

We don’t buy cars that:

• Are different from the description you gave us

• Have issues identified by a car history check

• Have extensive damage or are beyond repair

• Have structural damage, such as to the sill, roof or boot floor

• Have dents larger than a football or holes in the panel

• Have electrical damage, such as to the engine, bodywork or steering

• Have mileage discrepancies

• Have tyres that aren’t road legal 

• Have been used for taxi, private hire, chauffeur or rental purposes

• Have been used for driving lessons 

• Have been used as a police vehicle or by a local authority

• Have insurance issues

• Have been written off

• Have been imported or exported

• Have mechanical or electrical faults

• Haven’t got a valid MOT

• Haven’t been first registered in the UK

• Are valued by us at £65,000 or more

• Are older than 15 years old

• Have been modified*

*A modification is any cosmetic, mechanical, electrical or software-based change you make to a car that isn't part of the original manufacturer's specification. We can accept cars that have been modified with tow bars.

We're unable to buy your car if you’ve been registered as the keeper for less than six months. We also don’t buy ex-rental or commercial vehicles, rare or classic cars, vans, motorbikes or trucks.

• The mileage you stated is correct and within 500 miles of the figure you gave during the valuation when the car is picked up or dropped off. 

• Any scratches, dents, chips and scuffs are accurately recorded.

• You have a record of services if your car has a partial or full service history. This can be a log book with stamps or invoices that can be paper or digital.

If the description doesn’t match the condition of the car, we’ll help revalue it on the day and give you an updated offer that’s valid for 7 days. Your offer won’t change as long as you check out within 7 days and give us your car within 10 days of receiving your valuation. If you accept, we’ll take your car off your hands and pay you instantly. 

Your car needs to match the description you give us and meet the requirements that are listed in our terms and conditions.

Yes, you can as long as the valuation we give you is higher than the outstanding finance amount. We’re unable to buy cars that are valued at less than the amount you owe your finance lender, unless you part exchange.

Simply complete a free car valuation and let us know the correct settlement amount when you book your handover. You’ll also need to request a settlement letter from your finance lender and send a photo or an upload of the letter by email before your handover. You can email us at [email protected].

Once we’ve received your settlement letter and you’ve handed over your car to us, it takes approximately 7 days for us to settle the outstanding finance amount with your lender.

We may have to revalue or reject the car if:

• The car doesn't match the description you’ve given us.

• The car is in a significantly different condition than you stated during the online valuation. Understand how we define our conditions

• The mileage isn’t within 500 miles of the figure you provided during the online valuation.

• We identify an issue from our car history checks.

• The car is on the list of vehicles we don’t buy. Learn more about the cars we will and won’t buy. 

• You haven’t checked out within 7 days or handed over your car within 10 days of receiving your valuation.

You’ll need to sell your car with valid, up-to-date road tax if your car is parked on a public road or you’re driving it to a Customer Centre on the handover day.

You’ll get an automatic refund for any unused period of road tax.

You also need to cancel your policy directly with your insurer.

Current market prices - We use live market data to provide a fair and accurate price.

Age and mileage - Newer cars and cars with a lower mileage retain more of their value.

Condition - Imperfections such as scratches, dents, wear and tear will reduce your car’s value.

Previous owners - Cars with fewer previous owners are generally valued higher.

Service history - A car with a full service history will retain more of its value than a car with a partial or missing one.

To sell your car, you’ll need a valid red V5C that matches your name, address and the number plates.

If you have a blue V5C, you’ll need to swap it for a red one before handing over your car. You can do this for free by sending the original blue V5C to the DVLA or by calling them on 0300 790 6802. It may take up to two weeks for the new V5C to be sent to you so please allow enough time to receive it otherwise we may need to postpone your car handover date.

Once you’ve booked a handover slot, you can cancel it at any time.

If you cancel within 24 hours of your handover slot, we may charge a £49 cancellation fee. The cancellation fee may also apply if you’re unavailable when we arrive to collect the car at your home, or if you’ve booked a slot at a Customer Centre and don’t turn up.
